This resort in Phrao has been catering to foreign visitors for around 12 years and while it’s quite far from town and signposts are few and far between, it can be found on Google maps and by following directions through the rice paddies from Pa Nai village. Doi Farang has 17 rooms in three styles: brick house, rice barn and Lanna house, plus a swimming pool and restaurant, and is surrounded by fruit orchards and rice fields. The German owner offers a variety of activities including trekking to Doi Mon Larn.

Lhong Khao is the old Lanna word for rice barn, and the traditional barns were made of wood and built in a unique shape with large, round wooden columns.
